The River Tone
The River Tone is about 21 miles (34 km) long. It rises at Beverton Pond near Huish Champflower in the Brendon Hills and flows through Curry and Hay moors which are designated as a site of special scientific interest. At the end of its journey it joins up with the River Parrett at Burrowbridge. Taunton Angling Association lease 6 miles of this suberb river which offers some of the best chub fishing in the south west of England. The river is fully accessible and is wheelchair friendly in most places. species in the river are, chub, carp, grayling, roach, Tench, rudd, perch, pike, and the odd salmon. Taunton Angling own the fishing rights from firepool lock all the way to newbridge. As well as fishing the River Tone offers some beautiful countryside walks where walkers can enjoy a gentle stroll taking in the beautiful scenery and bird spotters can enjoy the stunning displays put on by the thousands of starlings as they fly in the sky, these aerial displays will take your breath away. The best time of day to see this is first thing in the morning as the sun is rising and last thing at night as the sun is setting.
