17 anglers took part in the latest competition fished at Walton Pond.Tom Magnall had a great day catching 7 carp and 4 large bream to take first place.Most of his fish were caught on pellets.John Dursley also caught well with many large bream & skimmers in his net.Again best baits were pellets.

The Fast Stretch was the venue for the latest Taunton Angling competition.15 anglers took part with Tony Goodland making it two wins on the trot.Big chub were the main species caught with the odd roach dace and grayling.Maggots proved best bait with many chub over 3lbs caught.

This weeks River Shield was fished on the Fast Stretch between Firepool Lock and Bathpool Bridge.With the river in excellent condition expectations were high for a good day even though a freezing easterly wind was blowing.Chub were the order of the day with many caught over 3lbs.1st Tony Goodland 15kg 560

Last sunday saw Taunton Angling competing against Exeter and Bridgwater on the canal at nerrolls. 25 anglers had a good day catching lots of small roach.Taunton AA came out on top with all the top places going to local anglers.

29 anglers fished The Colin Fouracre Memorial Christmas Match on the canal last sunday.With a cold easterly wind it proved a hard day for some with only certain areas producing fish.Steve Priddle caught consistantly throughout the day and had the added bonus of 3 good sized perch to go with lots of roach.The 'Big Fish'prize went to local Tackle Dealer Pete Rees (Taunton Angling Centre)who caught a Perch weighing in at 620grams.

The Canal Cup was fished at Bathpool on Sunday.Conditions were excellent with a nice colour to the canal fishing was superb.
Kev Williams continued his winning ways with a big haul of quality roach on bread.Kev also had the golden peg making it an extra special win.

Round 6 of The Presidents Cup sponsored by Taunton Audio And Visual Services was fished on the Fast Stretch last Sunday.With heavy rain the night before it wasn't long before the river was heavily coloured and started to flood.Fishing proved difficult with strong winds adding to the problem.Kev had 2 nice chub for his winning weight.

Stathe Drain was the venue for round 5 of The Presidents Cup last sunday.Fishng was good throughout with small fish feeding everywhere.One nice Tench made the difference for Chris Parr to go with lots of small roach,rudd and skimmers.

The 3rd round of the Presidents Cup sponsored by Taunton Audio and Visual Services was fished at Charlton on the canal last sunday.Lots and lots of small fish were caught with none of the large bream and tench feeding.Two nice perch and lots of roach,skimmers and rudd all fell to worms maggots and bread.

Stathe Drain was the venue for the Coronation Cup last sunday.Most anglers caught small fish on the inside as blustery conditions made pole fishing difficult.Maggots and casters were mainly used to tempt roach skimmers and small hybrids.

Tony Newell caught skimmers and bream most of the day with one carp of about 5lbs to mass a huge winning weight.Best baits were pellets,worm and maggot.

22 anglers fished at Stathe last sunday in a Taunton v Langport interclub match. Langport came out on top with Nigel Eatson taking top honours.Over 25 swims have now been cleared of weed making fishing accessable throughout the stretch.Bream roach rudd and a 3lb chub making up the weights.

John Andrews wins again.Strong winds and heavy rain (a typical summers
day!!) didnt deter anglers fishing the Den Stanley Cup at Stathe last Sunday.John caught roach most of the day on maggot and caster to put a nice weight together in atrocious conditions.Certain swims have now been cleared of weed especially at the pump end.

Members of Taunton Angling headed for the river Huntspill last weekend to compete against Bridgwater AA in their latest interclub match.Many Taunton anglers had a good day finishing high on the leader board but Bridgwater's Tony Goodland took top honours catching lots of fish on the pole.

The latest club match fished at Walton Pond proved to be a one horse race with Chris Parr blitzing the competition.Catching four large bream and lots of big skimmers and roach there was only going to be one winner.What a fabulous venue this is for anyone wanting to catch lots of bream,skimmers,roach and carp.

This weeks competition The Hook Bridge Cup was fished on the fast stretch.After the recent floods and high water the river was well back in its banks and looked in good condition although a bit 'pacey'.Chub and roach were the main species caught falling to maggots or bread.

The latest Taunton Angling match was due to be fished on the river Tone but due to high water the venue was changed to Thurlbear Pond.This pond is full of roach,skimmer bream and carp.Roach were the main species caught with the skimmers and carp not feeding probably due the recent cold spell.

Only 11 anglers braved the ice,snow and freezing conditions last sunday to fish an open match on the Taunton Canal at nerrols.With pouring rain and a slightly coloured canal it was always going to be hard.However after 5 hours of fishing only 100grams separated the top 3.Most people caught lots of roach with the odd skimmer and perch.

20 anglers braved the extremely cold temperatures to fish The Stanley Durham Memorial on the river tone last sunday.Near freezing conditions proved the downfall of many anglers with bites scarce.Adam just beating Kev to first place had a good day catching lots of small chub and dace with the odd roach.
